What A Gorgeous Coat! When it comes to Designer Clothes For Women like winter coats, hats, gloves, party dresses, I want to see fashion where I live. As far as I am concerned, womens winter clothes can and should be fashionable and still remain practical and usable. I think we should look just as good as we can consistent with reasonably practical considerations like type of fabric, degree of waterproofing and warmth in the case of outerwear. Party dresses? Well pretty much anything goes there! So we'll search for those magic combinations of style and flair with fabric and climactic consderations when the design houses develop winners.
From bitter experience, I am afraid I don't trust any house which I don't already know or to which I have been recommended by trusted friends. There are just too many shysters, cheap import knock-offs, and downright scammers working their black arts out there. I shop the big established stores who carry the established names and I stay more or less in touch with trends and the latest runway news. But I don't go nuts with that stuff either. Frankly, I don't have that kind of time to waste. I'm a working stiff and that's another consideration for my choices. I really can't go hog wild and get away with it at the office. Wuss yourself! I suppose it goes without saying but there are some fairly rigorous constraints on what I buy to wear. Figure, complexion, are obvious as is age to some degree I guess. Nuff said! Don't be dumb and you're always the best judge. (or you should be! If not, get help. From a tried and true best friend). Phew! What else? Oh yes, I know. Corporate raiders being what they are, together with the fickleness of public taste makes today's favorite, tomorrow's has-been. Or is it that I get jaundiced pretty quickly. Maybe a bit of both. Because of the budget, I try to not get too far afield from what I know and that has worked well up to now. As intimated before, a lot of that is really knowing myself and in having that trusted, true blue bud to be my changing room mentor, "Darling, you can't be serious!!". having said that, I try to be adventurous and to experiment. OK favorite names - Donna Karen, Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta, Nina Ricci, Roberto Cavalli, Yves St. Laurent. Shoes - Gina. As far as stores go Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales. on occasion Saks. Online, I check out Ann Taylor, Eddie Bauer, Lands End, LL Bean. And then there's that gem - shopbop. What a find that was. They really get me excited over what's moving and give a great rundown on trends. Just take a look at their Lookbook series each month. Pretty eclectic. I try to stay on top of it all and look for what attracts me and I always am searching for sales and bargains. I like to think I'm pretty normal and I hope I can help you too.
