Biker Or Partygirl?What are you looking for in a women's leather jacket? The categories are really dramatically different. For me, it all depends on what I'm up to, where I'm headed and who with! I can do biker chick or elegant designer. So let's take a look at the best of each and maybe something in between. We'll see! First up take the motorcycle look. I don't think you're going to do much better than Leatherup.com's Classic Braided Cruiser Ladies Motorcycle Leather Jacket" by Xelement. It's gorgeously "macho" looking. Now I just have to find my man and his hog. (don't tell but my actual man doesn't own one - oh well!). This jacket is leatherup's item number B-8000-ladies-braided and sells for $89.95. It's top grade cowhide, with zip out lining. The collar is traditional style biker with fold over flap for wind resistance. There are zipper pockets and sleeves and an elastic back. Looks like a real ride jacket as well as a strut around feel to it.
Alright, move to the elegant side of leather jackets and I found a beaut. It's by Ralph Lauren. The Courtney Patent Leather Jacket with a jewel neckline, button front, three-quarter sleeves. It's a lovely pretty look. You can find it at Neiman Marcus, their item number NMOF8_B0MDN. Priced at $1998. Their catalog shows it worn with a pale pink sweater and black Lombard pants. Very sharp and dressy. Something a little less pricey? OK how about this little Andrew Marc number at Bloomingdale's. It's a Raccoon Collar Leather Jacket, zip front with seaming detail. Double strap cuff with detachable Finnish raccoon collar and side zip pockets. their catalog number 81990. They have it priced at $495 and it comes in black or cocoa. I like the cocoa but that depends on what you'll wear it with so I leave that to you. What else in leather? How about a pair of dressy pants for that party coming up. Everyone else will be wearing velvet of something and you'll run against the crowd and attract all kinds of attention. Now where can I find a knock-your-eyes-out pair? I'll stay with Bloomies and see if they have anything. Ah ha! Got it right away! These look really great, think iI'll order a pair right now - I can use 'em in a week or so. Bloomingdales item number 81385 in black or gunmetal, they are Sutton Studio Exclusive Stretch Leather Pants. They say they move with your body which is exactly what I want. Price $250 which seems pretty good to me. I have a brand new sexy white top I just got that will go perfectly. Can't wait. |
